| Description |
The project is designed to provide adequate drinking water to the entire population of all wards except the elevated places of Vandazhy, Kizhakkanchery, Vadakkanchery and Kannambra Panchayaths in Alathur and Tharur constituencies of Palakkad district.The proposed project includes the components for pumping treated water to the proposed OHSR at Ponkandam and gravity feeding from balancing reservoir at WTP plant site to the proposed OHSRs at Cheerakuzhy palam, Vadakkanchery and Kannambra and boosting pumping from Cheerakuzhy to existing OHSR at Kanichiparutha so as to meet the water demand of the benefitted panchayaths at the rate of 100 liters per capita per day in the design year 2050. The Executive Engineer, Project Division, Palakkad vide letter no KWA/WSP/PKD/D2-01/2014 (Mangalam) dated 17.07.2019 has informed the Superintending Engineer, PPD, Kozhikkode that the proposed tank site at PWD rest house not available. Sri K D Prasenan, Hon'ble MLA of Alathur constituency, directed for ensuring the water supply coverage to the people residing in the high level areas of the benefitted Panchayaths in the meeting held at the chamber of honorable minister Sri. A K. Balan. Hence new tank locations are identified which will ensure the water supply coverage of the high level and low level zones of all 4 Grama panchayaths and design was modified accordingly by PPD. Location of service reservoirs are finalized for design based on the joint inspection of PPD and Project Division, Palakkad.The original proposal of transmission of treated water to OHSRs through gravity changed to Pumping. Hence motor pumpsets introduced in the revised proposal for pumping of treated water to the OHSRs. Due to the rezoning of the entire benfitted area in to 8 zones, the locations and capacities of proposed OHSRs are changed. The locations and revised capacities of OHSRs are 22 LL at Karimkunnam for covering the low level zones of Vadakkenchery and Kannambra panchayaths, 16 LL OHSR at Kavalupara Nannagadi for high level zones of Vandazhy and Kizhakkenchery panchayaths, 10LL OHSR at Palakuzhy for high level zones of Vadakkenchery and Kannambra, 0.20 LL OHSR capacity at a level of +507.000m to cater the demand of Palakuzhy highly elevated areas. The change in the diameter of transmission mains, length, route etc occurred. For pumping clear water from the Palakuzhy OHSR at a level of +187.00m to the 0.20LL OHSR at +507.00m, and two online booster stations are proposed. |

The application submitted to District collector. The demand note for remitting contingency charge showing rough amount of acquisition as 5.88 crores received.
