| Description |
The existing water supply to Azhikode, Chirakkal and Valapattanam Panchayaths - Reach–II, is from WSS to Kannur Corporation. The service reservoir of this reach is the existing 5 Lakhs liters capacity Overhead Tank at Panankavu, Chirakkal panchayat. Present water supply rate is 70 lpcd. The present gravity & pumping main of Kannur Corporation to Panankavu OHSR is 250mm & 200mm AC pipe, which frequently busting due to old age. Moreover the supply from Kannur water supply scheme through this 200mm AC line is not enough to meet the demand of 100 lpcd and to cover entire FHTCs in the distribution area of Azhikode, Chirakkal and Valapattanam Panchayaths - Reach – II
The demand of the entire area of Azhikode, Chirakkal and Valapattanam Panchayaths - Reach – II, can be met from the ongoing KIIFB project of laying 400mm dia DI Gravity main from Mundayad to Pallikkunnu OHSR, which are in nearing completion stage.
As per hydraulic design the total length of distribution network is 164812m however in the estimate proposed is 129347 m by utilizing existing distribution line
