Administrative Sanction from Government of Kerala vide Order G.O.(Rt)No.134/2022/WRD dated 23-02-2022 was issued under JAL JEEVAN MISSION (JJM) for the work JJM-Kannur District - Peravoor, Muzhakkunnu, Kolayad and Chittariparamba Panchayats- Water supply project to Peravoor , Muzhakkunnu, Payam and Ayyankunnu Panchayats - Laying distribution network and Providing FHTCs - Phase II-zone-III - Laying Distribution Network and Providing FHTCs In Chittariparamba and Kolayad Panchayaths - an amount 36870 lakhs. This zone III is for covering 100% distribution in Chittariparamba and 50% distribution in Kolayad Panchayath from 16LL OHSR at Varapeedika with 7843 no’s of FHTCs.
At present Piped water supply in Kolayad and Chittariparamba Panchayath is meager. Most of the people are depending to Open Wells for their daily water needs. During summer season acute scarcity of drinking water is affecting in all most all parts of these Panchayaths as open wells dried up in the beginning of summer itself. The demand of this Panchayaths can be met from the comprehensive WSS to Peravoor; Muzhakkunnu, payam and Ayyankunnu Panchayaths which was sanctioned by KIIFB. The KIIFB project is for the construction of production components and two OHSR only. Laying distribution network and providing FHTCs to Kolayad and Chittariparamba Panchayath is included in this JJM project.
The site for Intake well cum Pump house of the comprehensive WSS to Peravoor, Muzhakkunnu, payam and Ayyankunnu Panchayaths is identified near Jabbarkadavu in the left bank of Bhavaly river, a tributary of Valapattanam river and this Land is to be obtained from Water Resources Department. Lands for Raw water Booster Station and Treatment Plant at Athithattu, OHSR at Kallerimala and Varapeedika are Privet Lands which are to be acquired. Land acquisition is in progress by Revenue Department and waiting for approval. It is proposed to cater treated water to Varapeedika OHSR from 2LL capacity balancing OHSR at Athithattu near to the WTP, which is included in KIIFB project.
The production components of the comprehensive scheme, WSS to Peravoor, Muzhakkunnu, payam and Ayyankunnu Panchayaths having capacity of 22.00 MLD is sufficient to meet the demand of Zone-III area. It is proposed to supply 50% area of Kolayad panchayath and 100% area of Chittariparamba panchayath from the 16Lakhs Liter capacity OHSR at Varapeedika by gravity flow with a per capita rate of 100 lpcd.
As per hydraulic design the total length of distribution network is 187697m
